WHO: Aristophanes, and Borja, and people nearby?
WHERE: Borja-Pearl Border
OPEN/CLOSED: Open
WHEN: Day 6, past noon.

[A troupe of Aristophanes are coming to Borja territory today]

[Though what's this? They're being accompanied by a certain pink-haired girl you might remember from Uruk? In an Aristophanes-uniform. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? Maybe it is Uruk-trickery.]

[At any rate, maybe they want to deal.]

Oh, a non-aggression pact after getting in your hits, is it?

As I said: couldn't resist.

Especially after I discovered, to my distaste, that not a shred of Church information was traded to Aristophanes last season.

...I note your territory's looking very nice. As expected?

I do seem to recall that Aristophanes and ourselves agreed to a feeding arrangement, as a trial to see how well we would get along. It would have been quite unfortunate if we were to find we didn't like each other.

[personal profile] grand_finale 2014-11-04 08:28 am (UTC)(link)
Unfortunate for whom?

But... yes, of course. It's surely not your responsibility to look out for the welfare of other families, is it? Even ones as reliable as Aristophanes.

As for our relationship, well, we're hungrier for a bit more than meals now.
inonecard: (Temperance.)

[personal profile] inonecard 2014-11-05 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Oh us, most certainly, we wouldn't be able to see Astra in a lovely dress.

But I would not contend with Aristophanes' governess' role in his family, as I assume he would not with mine. Our families are always our priority, are they not? Which is why I would ask for your hunger, rather than blindly feed you and leave no supply for my own.

Well, besides our proposed non-aggression pact, we do have one thing we desire from you, which we will gladly gain through equitable trade.

You will either find it very difficult to supply, or very easy. The result I think will have a marked impact on Aristophanes-slash-Borja relations.

Oh?

[...watching his face carefully]

You're aware of the fate of the... previous... Prime of Aristophanes?
inonecard: (The Emperess.)

[personal profile] inonecard 2014-11-06 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
My assumption would be it's the same as the fates of the rest of Uruk.

Your assumption is wrong.

She was found bloodily killed, you see. Right in her own territory. Throat ripped out. Blood everywhere. Nasty work. No idea who could have done it.

Must you really go into such detail...

Is that guilt, Borja?

We want a statement from you Borja, with confirmation from our Governess' power that what you are saying is true.

To the effect that Borja was completely uninvolved with the murder of Aristophanes' former Prime. You had no knowledge of this event, no complicity in how it happened, and no part in the execution. None of you.

Will you do this?
inonecard: (The Sun.)

[personal profile] inonecard 2014-11-06 08:55 am (UTC)(link)
... My, I am impressed.

You would target us with an attack, ask for a treaty to protect yourselves from attack from us, then demand to put us on trial at your own terms with no benefit to us all within the same breath.

You have something to hide?

Oh, don't think there's no benefit at all! We've come prepared with goods to trade, of course.

As for the trial, would it put you at ease to know that what she is asking now is no less than what she freely offered to us before, as Champion of Uruk?

It doesn't matter, Briar. They'll never agree to it.

Because they can't agree to it.

[personal profile] inonecard 2014-11-07 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my no, rather we heartily refuse to go along with your pace as if there were no other choice, after all the backhanded slights we've been dealt in this simple conversation.

I hardly see why we have anything to prove to you. If you would so enjoy placing such accusations on us with no reason or rhyme, well, I can hardly stop you with that.
grand_finale: (Emperor Waltz)

[personal profile] grand_finale 2014-11-07 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
Backhanded slights? Please.

Surely you don't think we came all this way to let you imagine you've been insulted? Everything benefits you.

Eos, please - our Triumph is naturally the suspicious sort, but that does not mean that all of Aristophanes has already condemned you. I, for one, have no accusations to lay.

Rather, I should say... it's fearful, not knowing who was or was not involved in Honeythorn's murder. All of our dealings with you up to now have been pleasant, and I would like to continue the friendship between our houses.

In that spirit, would you consent to offering us that assurance? We have fine goods to trade for it, and I would offer the same terms I offered Uruk for the same request - answer us truly now, and Aristophanes will give another true answer in return, at any time of your choosing.

It would be such a relief, to know for certain that Borja had not struck us such a blow.
